Breast Self Examination

 #1.With your fingers flat,gently move across every part of your breast. Use your right hand to examine your left breast and your left hand to examine your right breast.Check for any kind of lumps or thickenings or any type of hard knots.

 #2.Now Inspect your breasts with your arms down by your sides.

 

 

 

  

 

 #3. Next raise your arms over your head.Look for any changes in shape or contour or dimpling. Or if you feel suspicious or something isn't right talk to your doctor.

 

 

 

  #4.Now lying down on your back,place a small pillow under right shoulder,right arm behind head and take your left hand and move in small circular motions on your breast.Use light but firm pressure. (Switch positions for opposite side). Again, if you aren't sure if you feel some a lump please ask your doctor to evaluate the situation.Don't hesitate. It is better to be safe then sorry.He won't think you are silly for checking, he will think you are smart!

Symptoms to look for:

-Change in how the breast or nipple feels.

-Change in how the breast or nipple looks.

-Nipple turns inward.

-Nipple may appear red or scaly,swollen.

-Skin on breast may resemble that of an orange.

-Nipple discharge
